Search/Quick Find

Search

We are able to perform searches in the People module, using the search bar that we find at the top left of the page.

The search bar allows us to search for people by name, postcode or email address.  We will need to enter at least 3 characters for the search to start.

If we search by name, the system will search first name, middle name and surname.

Searching by postcode will search postcode will search postcodes entered in the Postcode field of the address.

Searching by email address will search the email address entered in the email address field.

These searches do not search Custom Fields that we may have added.

Quick Find

Quick Find allows us to search for groups of people based on certain criteria.  For example, if we wanted a list of all the males aged between 18 and 30, we would be able to use Quick Find to produce this list.

For our example, we will need to click the Quick Find button, at the top of the People module, to open the Quick Find window.  We can select Male, in the Sex category and enter 18 to 30, in the Age category.  Then to generate our list, we just need to click the Find People button, at the bottom of the Quick Find window.  The list of matches will appear just below the Quick Find window.

If we want to refine the search further so, for example, we only list people in a certain location, we can select the location and click the Find People button again.  The list will update automatically.

We can generate Quick Find searches based on any of the criteria we see in the Quick Find window.

Quick Find searches are quick searches that are not saved, so once we come out of the People module, the Quick Find search will not be retained.  If we want to create searches that can be saved, we will need to use the Finder module.  We can access this using the button at the bottom of the Quick Find window, or by clicking the Finder icon.

To close the Quick Find window, we simply click the Quick Find button again.
