Add a Person

Add an Adult or Child

To add new people into iKnow, we will need access to the People module. An iKnow administrator can give us access if we don’t already have it.

Click the ‘People’ icon in the menu, to be taken to the People module.

To add a new person, click the Add Adult or Add Child button, which is found at the top right of the screen.  We will then need to add some details for the new person.  The minimum information we need to add is a name; if we want them to be able to log in to their iKnow profile, we will also need to add an email address. The email address will then act as the username and is where the password will be sent once the profile is complete.

If we have a photo of the person, and they are happy for us to add it, this can be done by clicking Change Image followed by Upload Image.  This will allow us to select the image from our computer’s hard drive.  Alternatively, if they have a Twitter profile, we can add their Twitter handle and the profile image they have on Twitter can be used in iKnow.

If the person is new to the church, we can leave the New Person check box ticked, otherwise it can be unticked.

If the person has indicated how they would prefer to be contacted, the relevant check boxes under I am happy to be contacted by: can be ticked, or unticked, as required.

Adding as much information as we can, in the Edit Person tab will make iKnow a more useful tool, so there is value in completing as much as we can.  Once all the details we have are completed, click the Save button.

Add an Address

To add the new person’s address, we will need to click the Relationships/Address tab.

Enter their surname or postcode into the search bar.  If someone from the same family has already been added to iKnow, the details will appear in the list and we can click on them to add the person to the same household. We will just need to click the Add to Address button to add them.

If their details do not appear, click New Address and their address can then be added into the relevant fields.  A land line phone number can be added here, as well, if they have one.

When the address has been added, click the Save button to save the details.  We can now click the ‘x’ in the top right corner of the window, to close it, and we should be taken to the new person’s profile in the People module.

Add Relationships

We are able to add relationships between couples and between parent/guardians and children in the Relationships/Address tab by clicking the Add Relationship button.

If the person we have added is an adult, we'll be able to select a Partner relationship, or parent/guardian relationships from the dropdown menu. Once we've selected the relationship, we'll need to type the name of the other person in the search box, and select the other person in the relationship from the list of results. The other person's profile image will be added to the right hand side of the Add Relationship window, if they have one, and we can click the Add button to create the relationship.

Once added, the relationship will be shown in the Relationships section of the Relationships/Address tab.

Clicking the red X button next to a person in the Relationships section will remove the relationship between the two people.
